The 52nd edition of this year's Miss International finally came to an end but of course it never culminated without the raised eyebrows and bitter disappointments over some zealous fans and pageant enthusiasts alike. Although the achievement of Ikumi Yoshimatsu made an important history for being the first Japanese woman to have clinched the tittle since the pageant's inception, her win stirred up massive controversies, questioning the legitimacy of her victory, and claiming that the pageant was rigged from the beginning.
Well speculations are really inevitable, people talk and each has different opinions and perceptions over the given situation. However in my own two cents, although there were a few more goddesses who were miles better than her facially and intellectually-wise, I would rather choose to be optimistic about the results. I would like to think and I would like believe that behind every cloud, there is a silver lining..:-)Who knows Ikumi possessed all the ideals of the organization? We never know but let's give her and the organization the benefit of the doubt. After all, this is Japan's first tittle after long decades of hosting the pageant.

Despite of the beauty competition's alleged fiasco, I am still happy because our beloved Nicole made it to the semifinal round on her own merits. Although she didn't walk away with our 5th Mikomoto crown, but I would like to commend her for doing her best to continue the five-year streak of the Philippines as semifinalist.
