Juggling with career and some bouts of personal daily ramblings, made my November, the busiest and the most exhausting month of the year! And yes it is inevitable that quality sleep and sufficient beauty rest were all fallen by the way side. This might have contributed to the inexorable outburst of *hateable comedones and some obnoxious pimples flourishing like wild mushrooms along the depths of a jaded skin tone - ruthlessly deprived and completely devoid with that youthful, effulgent glow!
Cliche as it may seemed to sound, there's definitely a tinge of truth behind the antiquated adage about 'beauty sleep'. According to Deborah S. Sarnoff, M.D., a cosmetic dermatologist and an associate clinical professor at New York University, "Skimping on sleep makes your skin look dull and more fatigued". Sleeping gives your skin (and entire body) a chance to renew and rebuild. If you don't get enough sleep, your body won't have time to conduct all its repairs, which is why when you go through a sleepless night, you wake up with bags under your eyes, and sullen skin. So how can we get ample rest amidst a stressful day? Patrick McDowell in Articles, Healthy Living recapitulated some helpful tips: "Getting enough sleep at night is possible only if you allow your body and brain to relax before going to bed. An active mind will just keep you up at night. An extremely tired body, on the other hand, will need some time to settle down. Plan your sleeping time and the hours before you go to sleep well, and you will get enough sleep for the night."
Dr. Nicholas V. Perricone further explains that many people overlook the importance of a good night's sleep,"..When you wake up in the morning after a good night's sleep you will look and feel radiant, vibrant, energized and youthful. When you look in the mirror you will notice that lines and wrinkles disappear. You will see a decreased puffiness around the eyes and your skin will project the luminous glow that comes with a decrease in age-accelerating, invisible inflammation"..(Source: www.sixwise.com).
So does adequate sleep make one more attractive? A big YES! Per specialists' recommendations, it certainly could! And now that I'm done with all the tasks and assignments entrusted to my care, I am now ready to welcome the month of December with some good nights' rests..(Hopefully!) A restful 7-hour of 'beauty sleep' every night is my heartfelt wish! How about yours, dearest readers?
