A new set of beautiful Earth warriors have just been crowned and the blonde-haired goddess from Czech Republic, Tereaza Fajksova shone the brightest during the most awaited coronation moment. Philippines' earth ambassadress Stephanie Stefanowitz almost grabbed the top spot when she was declared as Miss Earth-Air, (an inch closer to the most coveted tittle) while the bonita contenders from Latin America, Osmariel Villalobos of Venezuela was proclaimed as Miss Earth-Water with Brazil's Camilia Brant as Miss Earth-Fire.
The newly crowned queen was too honest to admit during the nerve-racking Q&A portion that she didn't understand the final question, "What will you consider as your defining moment as a woman?", Tereaza instead uttered a message that "protecting and respecting Mother Earth is everyone's duty." Her honesty and sincerity must have paved her way to the crown, not to mention her beauteous presence and drop-dead gorgeous stance, enough to charm the judges as well as the org.
Although the three elemental queens deserved each of their crowns based on their respective performances that evening, it would have been more satisfying to see Misses Thailand, Turkey, USA or South Africa in the final 4 along with the eventual winner Czech Republic. The former two countries were top performers during the medal-earning challenges and it was quite surprising that they didn't even land in the top 16 especially the Turkish delegate who lorded the 16 challenges before the coronation night. The preliminary competition and the candidates' environmental platforms must have occupied such greater percentage in the selection process and the competitive delegates from Turkey and Thailand may have failed to topnotch these areas, which could be a more sensible reason of their unexpected exclusion, I reckoned..:-)
The Top 8 Finalists were as follows: South Africa, Tamerin Jardine, Russia, Natalie Pereverzeva, Nepal, Nagma Shrestha, and USA, Siria Bojorquez.
Top 16 Semifinalists were the representatives from: Germany, Nel-Linda Zublewitz, Korea, Sara Kim, Italy, Giulia Capuani, Mexico, Paola Aguilar Concha, Scotland, Sara Pender, Costa Rica, Fabiana Granados, Poland, Justyna Rajczyk, Japan, Megumi Noda.
Special Awards were also given and it was Osmariel Villalobos of Venezuela who won as Miss Earth Photogenic. Waratthaya Wongchayaporn from Thailand was awarded with Best in National Costume while Prachi Mishra from India was named as Miss Congeniality.
The 12th edition of Miss Earth beauty pageant was held at Versailles Palace, Alabang, Muntinlupa City, Philippines, broadcasted live via Starworld on Saturday, 24th of November 2012. The delayed telecast will be aired on ABS-CBN, Sunday, November 25 at 10:00am.
