Newly-Crowned Miss Tourism International 2012 Rizzini Alexis Gomez of Philippines

Just a week after Janine Tugonon's success at Miss Universe, Philippines made headlines again when Rizzini Alexis Gomez emerged triumphant over 55 other delegates the moment she was crowned as Miss Tourism International 2012 on New Year's Eve held at Malaysia's city capital, Kuala Lumpur. She succeeded last year's winner Aileen Gabriella Robinson of Malaysia. With its incredible success in the field of pageantry, Philippines indeed ended the year 2012 with a bang!

Rizzini duplicated the victory of Ma. Esperanza Manzano who captured the first crown for the Philippines back in 2000. Now with two crowns at hand, Philippines catapulted its status in this Malaysian-based pageant as the country with the most number of wins head-to-head with Poland (1998-1999) and India (2001-2008).

Completing Rizzini's court were Miss Venezuela Marieles Alejandra Perez as first runner-up (Miss Tourism Global), Miss Australia Monika Rodulovic, second runner-up (Miss Tourism Metropolitan), Miss Paraguay Lourdes Rolon, third runner-up (Miss Tourism Cosmopolitan), and the host country delegate Miss Malaysia Jun Yong Wan Jun as fourth runner-up (Darling of the Year).

The Cebuana registered nurse who graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors is a perfect epitome of optimism, perseverance and determination. Her unsuccessful bid at Binibining Pilipinas and semifinal stint at Miss World-Philippines did not stop her from reaching her dreams. Her hardwork and perseverance were paid off when she finally won as Mutya ng Pilipinas-Tourism 2012 giving her the ticket to represent the country internationally through Miss Tourism International which is considered as the world's most extensive beauty pageant that promotes tourism industry.

Rizzini Alexis Gomez now joins with her fellow 'Kababayan' who put the Philippines at the top of the world's beauty pageant scene and made the Filipinos all over the globe even prouder.

Mabuhay Ka Rizzini! Mabuhay ang gandang Pinoy! Congratulations!
