One of the most important architectural masterpieces in Abu Dhabi is the magnificent Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque which is named after the founder as well as the first President of UAE, His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan whose final resting place is situated on the grounds. 

The internationally-renowned sanctuary is considered to be one of the largest mosques in the world and has the capacity to accommodate approximately 40,000 worshippers. Garbed in dazzling marbles and shimmering Islamic designs, the mosque also houses the most celebrated chandeliers clad with millions of stunning Swarovski crystals and other precious stones.

The entrancing holy shrine is not only established as a place of worship but also as a center of learning and discovery through its educational and visitor programmes. Opening hours is between 9am-8pm (except on Friday mornings which is open only to worhippers). During Ramadan, the recommended visiting hours would be 9am-12nn.
