Miss Universe Philippines 2011
Miss Universe 2011 3rd Runner-Up

It is not unknown to many how blessed Shamcey Supsup is. She's undeniably one of the country's loveliest Binibini with the most outstanding profile be it in the academe, professional career, family and lovelife. It is a rare phenomenon in which a woman is well-endowed with a ravishing beauty, a statuesque stance and a towering intelligence. Sometimes in your most fragile, vulnerable state, it'll make you ponder and question God, how come some people are so blessed abundantly while others who have done nothing to deserve it, are struggling with only so little left? Isn't He a fair and just God?
Shamcey graduated with Salutatorian honors both in elementary and high school. She went on achieving another 'honorable' feather in
her already adorable cap, when she clinched a Magna Cum Laude academic distinction conferred by no less than the country's most prestigious university, the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City and on top of that, she emerged number one in the Architecture's Board Examination, a professional niche usually dominated by men. Needless to say, she got an almost unparalleled scholastic background, your blogger is quite envious of.😉

Unbeknownst to some, joining beauty pageants wasn't included in her bucket list, more so in enlisting herself in the most competitive national beauty search. It was her mom who made her decide to join Binibini. Shamcey was

even quoted saying during her interview that her monthly allowance from her loving mom will be cut off if she wouldn't give Binibini a try. An obedient 'unica hija' that she is who would never dare to break her mother's heart, she plunged herself deeply into the waters of pageantry and did her best to honor her mother's wish! And the rest, as they say is history...A pageant rookie who ruthlessly slayed the veterans and went on snaring the lion's share of awards as well as the Miss Universe Philippines crown. Her sterling credentials coupled with her Tsunami performance in the Miss Universe pageant made her nabbed the Third Runner-Up spot in a bevy of 89 most gorgeous and greatly- accomplished women in the vast universe.

In a nutshell, there are two very important nuggets of wisdom that we can learn from Shamcey's experience. Firstly, if you choose to obey and honor your loving parents, more often than not, immeasurable blessings and success in life will follow. Secondly, pageantry, especially in the Philippines is empowering. It had opened doors of an almost endless opportunity far beyond what Shamcey could imagine when she was still in the open field wearing her casual Architecture's hat and rugged jeans. Her triumphed in the Binibining Pilipinas tilt had eventually paved the way towards meeting the love of her life, her knight of shining armor who proved to be her faithful companion, a loving husband and her best travel buddy, who's perhaps the sweetest thing ever that she received apart from her beauty crown and precious medallions.

So with regards to the million-dollar question I have raised above on why some people are blessed than others,  here's an answer I've found from St. Theresa of Lisieux:

"I realised that if every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its loveliness and there would be no wild flowers to make the meadows gay.

"It is the same in the world of souls--which is the garden of Jesus. He has created the great saints who are like the lilies and the roses, but He has also crated much lesser saints and they must be content to the daisies or the violets which rejoice His eyes whenever He glances down. Perfection consists in doing His will, in being that which He wants us to be."
